About Lisa

I have been active almost all my life except for period of a few years where I was quite overweight. About 15 years ago I said enough was enough and over the course of a year lost about 80 pounds. After losing that weight, I started rock climbing, mountaineering and eventually mountain biking. I was 32 when I started mountain biking and took to it like a fish in water. I started racing in 2003 as a beginner, moved up to sport in 2004 and won the state title, and in 2005 moved up to semi-pro and started racing the national circuit where I finished 4th in the nation. You could say that mountain biking is my sport. The adventure and intensity of racing in particular has kept me focused on staying fit.

I am an avid adventure lover; in addition to mountain biking I also enjoy rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking and backpacking and yoga. I have competed in 24-hour mountain bike races, organized adventure races and climbed numerous peaks in the continental US.

Given my own struggle with weight I am passionate about helping people realize a healthy and active lifestyle. I am a “Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist” (NSCA-CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Spin Instructor, a Certified Yoga Instructor as well as an adventure guide.

After a profound trip to India during the spring of 2008 I realized how close our global community really is and I knew that I needed to start making more sustainable purchasing decisions. Since that time I’ve embarked on a completely different journey of “greening” my education becoming LEED Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council and a Certified Green Auditor with Washington D.C. based Strategic Sustainability Consulting. I also made many lifestyle choices to become more green — I’ve been a vegetarian since 2007, eat organic and cook/bake my own food as often as possible, garden and compost and buy green cleaning products.

I’ve led an interesting and adventurous life, navigating many different roles and love to share my experiences.  Please contact me via email to ask questions, book a speaking engagement or a consultation.
